What is a Chiropractic Adjustment?
A chiropractic adjustment is a precisely gentle movement applied by the hand to a joint within the body. The goal of an adjustment is to restore both function and movement. Like a soda can that has increased pressure within, so too does a joint have increased pressure within its joint capsule at times. When you “pop” open a soda can, you should hear the pressure releasing. This is what happens when a joint has been adjusted, as when “cracking” a knuckle. What we hear is gas releasing from a joint within the body. Although the noise of gas releasing is not necessary when an adjustment is performed, it is commonly experienced.
